Faction @ the Bloomington SK8park

What up people?
We put together a little Faction ride last weekend (Oct 25) and hit the Bloomington skatepark, home of the Faction BBQ. It was good ride- some riding, some cheering, some chilling. After the Skatepark, we headed back to my house for some BBQ grill action and checked out the mini next door.

Look for a winter skatepark session soon....

Ridin' Dirty

I remember reading about Eagan setting aside an area for dirt jumps some time ago. But then just forgot about it. Friday, while visiting a friend out there I somehow remembered about it & decided to see if anything ever came of it.
Something DID. With the help of a crew of local Freeriders & BMXers (Big thanks guys!) Eagan now has a Bike park made of dirt.
There's jumps for all skill levels. A small pump track for the kiddies, a line of small jumps for beginners (like myself) a middle line of larger tables and a line of Big Boy jumps.
Check it out if you ever get a chance.
They are at the Lexington/Diffley Athletic Facility, back by the skatepark. At the corner of Lexington & Diffley in Eagan.
Remember, EVERY proper BMX bike needs to see dirt at least once.
And thanks again to those that have put in the work to make these jumps happen.

I am dual. Or at least I was.

As a freestyler in the 80's, I remember the first time I ever read Thrasher and TWS. I believe it was in Mr. Bengston's algebra class sometime in 1986. The music, the look, the art... anyway, I was blown away by the likes of Ffej Hedges, Lance Mountain, Jeff Grosso, Phillips and Sam Cunningham. Sure the big name guys always made their way into the mag, but there was something about the underdog.
Natas, aka Satan, was never really an underdog, but good god could he skate. I actually didn't like the whole Ray Barbee/ no comply movement of skating. I loved nose grinds, rail slides, frontside rock and rolls, 50-50's, stuff that to me represented the soul of skating.
Here is a prime example WHY Natas made the skate mags all the time. He tore it up.

What does any of this have to do with BMX? I don't care, but I do remember being able to call myself "dual" bcause I did both. I still don't get why there is still a rift between BMX and skating, but oh well. Maybe it's the dents my 44t chainwheel left in that nice new coping on that mini ramp in '88. Good times.
Oh, BTW, don't run 95a wheels in a barn that is 10 degrees.
Smell you later,
Mike

Happy Halloween From The Faction!

Happy Hallow's Eve! Check out the possesed pics from the ride above. Spooky if you look at deep into their eyes long enough...
All is well in Factionland! We just started "Wed night ride until it snows" sessions and it's been a blast. We've been tearing it up.... well, let's not go too far, but we've been having a great time riding and relearning tricks that we haven't done for years. We're rotating the riding locations, but we'd like to keep it in the city for now. You never know what could happen once the snow flies. Email info@minnesotafaction.com for more details. All levels of riding welcomed.

FYI:
Look for a special Faction CSI Halloween post that will send shivers up your spine... we uncovered an atrocity in a basement in Colorado.
